Edinburgh brides: salon has it all

A unique salon in Edinburgh’s Roseburn Terrace offers a one-stop destination for every bride-to-be’s beauty needs.

JasminFrench is the first of its kind in the city; its elegant home from home interior is the perfect place for pampering, with a range of services from make- up and blow drys to HD brows, lash extensions and Shellac nails.

“I was inspired by the blow-dry bars in New York on a visit there and I realised that there was nothing like it back home,” says founder Jasmin French, who set up the make-up and blow-dry lounge in December 2016.

Two years on, it’s a mecca for brides preparing for their big day, whether it’s for a make-up trial, selecting the right shade of spray tan, or a practice run for the perfect up-do – anything a bride may need, they offer.

“I really wanted to create somewhere where people could have everything they need to get ready in one place,” explains Jasmin. “We’ve got a fantastic team of hair stylists and make-up artists who can help you get exactly what you’re looking for.”

And now you can get their hair and make-up expertise at your wedding venue, as the salon’s team will travel within an hour of Edinburgh to help your whole wedding party get glammed up.

“We love to head out ‘on location’ as most brides do want us there on the day to help them look and feel a million dollars,” says Jasmin, who adds that many women favour a more relaxed look with their hair and make-up.

“We’ve found that most people go for quite a loose curl, a look which is ‘done but not done’. It’s the same with make-up: usually, people just want to look like themselves, with smoky brown eyes and a bit of highlighter. We suggest applying it slightly heavier, so it lasts – there are ways of looking natural without it looking caked.”

Hen parties are more than welcome at JasminFrench, with groups often arriving with a bottle of bubbly or even a picnic to enjoy pampering with the bride-to-be, and the team will also take their kit on the road to cater for group parties.

No matter what look you’re planning to go for, Jasmin recommends always having a proper trial to make sure you’re completely satisfied with the results.

“There can be a lot of pressure on us as you hopefully only have one wedding day and we want it to be perfect!” she adds. “Some brides don’t want a practice run, but I would always suggest booking a trial about three months in advance.”
